Insurance & Fees

Do you accept insurance?

I am out of network on all insurance and considered an out-of-network provider. That doesn't mean that your insurance won't cover some of your expenses at Synergy Counseling Innovations.  I will provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Services maybe covered in full or in part by your health insurance plan. Generally, if you have out-of-network benefits, they will reimburse you at least 50% or more, and they pay you directly. Insurance carriers differ on whether and how much they will reimburse for psychotherapy. Please note that some insurance companies do not provide coverage for family or couples counseling. Those that do will not cover the relationship as the client; therefore, one person will need to be identified as the client with a diagnosis. I cannot guarantee reimbursement. Please review your coverage carefully, and consult with your insurance provider. Consider the following questions when determining if your insurance will reimburse you for therapy.

  • What are my mental health insurance benefits?

  • Has my deductible been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • Does my insurance require pre-approval from my primary care physician?

There are advantages and disadvantages in choosing to use your mental health benefits. Advantages may include a lower fee, while disadvantages may include having to assign a diagnosis, loss of confidentiality during the claims process, and forfeiting your right to choose how many sessions you feel you need. Please be aware that any insurance forms submitted will include diagnosis and procedure codes. These will be on record with the insurance company, and you should factor that into your decision on whether to file for out-of-network reimbursement.

If you would like to utilize your insurance and see a therapist that is in-network, I can  offer you some referrals.

You can use your Flex Spending or your Health Savings Account at Synergy Counseling Innovations. Therapy is considered a medical expense, therefore you can deduct the cost of therapy from your taxes if you itemize. Please consult your tax professional for more details.

What are your fees?
